Default My Best Video Poker Story

This could be a cool thread if it gets going. I'm going to post my best video poker story, and hopefully you guys will follow up and share your best stories too. Here we go...

I was at the Trop in AC playing 9/6 JoB. My friend Jeff and I had gone down for the weekend to play and get away from the house. A little background before I get into it:

My friend Jeff and I are best buds, but we always, ALWAYS, get in huge arguments regarding anything involving gambling. There's always a prop bet going on between us, and we can argue gambling theory and statistics to no end. On this particular trip we were really getting on each others nerves, and nearly came to blows at a bar Saturday night after quite a few drinks and quite a few arguments.

Needless to say, the next Sunday things were still a little tense, but we decided to play some more JoB before we got out of there. Both of us were having pretty bad trips, as we hadn't hit much more than a few quads and mostly just a lot of busted hands.

We both put in a few hundred bucks and were playing five coins a hand like we always do. I was down to the end of my credits, and only had 4 left and hit deal. Jeff saw me do it and said "Why wouldn't you buy back in to be able to play five credits, you know that hurts your odds..."

I said that it didn't matter, and I quickly lost the hand and went to the bathroom. When I came back I started playing again, and we went on for a couple hours. Jeff was starting to make some money back, and I was slowly diminishing. Once again, I came down to my last four credits and Jeff looked at the screen in a mocking fashion.

I said "Dude just let me play my own game, back off." We were still upset about the night before, and he just smirked at me and turned back to his game. I hit Deal, and out comes Jc-Qc-Kc-Ac-5s. I thought to myself, yeah right lol, this won't happen.

What do you know, I draw the Tc and the machine starts going nuts for the $1,000 jackpot. I was astonished, and Jeff and I looked at each other, and he said "Shouldn't that be a $4,000 jackpot?" I nearly punched him in the face, but he started laughing and said "while at least you're up on the trip."

I have to say that it was the worst Royal Flush I've ever hit lol. Ok, now your turn.... let's hear the stories.

LOL that's a bad one man. Still good for you though to get up on the trip.

I don't have anything personally that is very good, but one of my buddies had a terrible beat at an online Caribbean Stud game that kinda fits in here.

Him and his wife were playing online Caribbean Stud, and it was a progressive game where you had to add an additional $0.20 bet to qualify for the jackpot. They usually play the $0.20 even though it's a long shot, but for some reason the wife had forgotten to play it the last couple hands. All of a sudden they hit a Royal Flush, and both of them go nuts because they think they won like $95,000.

Instead, they won $4 because the dealer didn't even qualify. I feel so bad because he's a great guy and that must have been absolutely horrible to realize the $95k swing. He actually had a screenshot from it too, I'll attach it to this post.

Best $$$ story... 7 royals in less than 24 hrs. 4 on same machine at Stardust and 2 more next machine at bar. 4 on dollar 3 line and 2 on dollar single line. Then I pulled one royal quarter on 10 play at LVH.

My best story at Frontier about 20 yrs ago. A 6 coin progressive quarter was over $6000. I home based out of Frontier and got playing about 7am in morning. As I sat down I was lucky to get a seat as the pros were already taking up most of the seats. I was playing for no more than 1/2 hour. Up pops a royal for $6043; a nice quarter hit. You wouldn't believe the anger of the pros with cans of quarters stacked up on machine ready for play. We used quarters in those days as validators were not used much for vp then.

It does ones heart good to sweep a progressive from the "pros" as most think they own all the positive jackpots in Vegas.
